Airedale Traveler, who stayed on the 12th, said:
Some guests may find the staff a bit intrusive - at least until they understand how to be available without being "in your face." Our room was beautiful. We had a corner room, facing Northwest - a great view of Cooper Square - especially at night. The decor was understated and elegant. And, the bed was one of the best we have ever had - better than any Ritz or Four Seasons bed - lots of pillows and an outstanding mattress [...] Our floor only had 5 rooms - so it was quiet and intimate - almost like living in an exclusive apartment building.
We also hear that guests are provided with complimentary passes to the New York Sports Club across the street (for now, at least). And that's not the only complimentary amenity to love. There are drinks, too! From altsie:
A fun arrival experience, especially with no front desk or money exchanging hands. They serve you a drink instead and escort you to your room. Ask any of the staff (incredibly helpful and nice to talk to) what is being finished over the next couple months and you'll be coming back for sure. Can't wait to visit again after the new year. This is the next big winner in my book for NYC.
Free drinks! We likey.
We're hesitant to declare this hotel necessarily worth the long, long wait and or worth all the controversy, but we're happy to say that it's lookin' like so far, so good for the Cooper Square.
Have you stayed at the Cooper Square? Let us know what it was like.
