High Peaks Resort in Lake Placid, New York, is nothing if not, uh, placid when it comes to navigating Web 2.0. Like all the cool kids, the new hotel Twitters! And Facebooks! And Flickrs! And if you text message the code MYVIPTEXT HPR to 368638, you’ll get exclusive offers and specials on your phone.

We like seeing new hotels that snap to action when it comes to social networking, so we salute the newly launched pages. So much so that we’ll extend a little holiday cheer their way while critiquing their efforts.

First up, the hotel’s Flickr page is really quite impressive. Featuring more than 50 photos, the hotel’s page offers a pretty comprehensive tour of the property, from details like close-ups of the hotel’s waterfall showerheads to more general room shots. Plus, they uploaded photos of their Thanksgiving brunch spread, which looks mighty tempting.

Hopping over to their Facebook page, you’ll find a bombardment of High Peaks Resort propaganda. Glowing TripAdvisor reviews! YouTube videos! Discounted rate promos! Oh wait, that last one is actually pretty helpful.

As for Twitter, well, so far things are pretty standard, if not particularly thrilling. But, they seem to actually be taking all this stuff seriously (even prominently promoting their pages on their website), so we’ll be keeping our eyes on them to see whether they stick with it.

Table Stakes

These days, just about every hotel with even a modest marketing budget has jumped on to all of these tools, but few are doing it with a holistic social web strategy. I wonder if they have a trackable way to see if these conversations are turning into heads-in-beds....
