Room Rates in Las Vegas Get a Little Steep

Planet Hollywood casino area.

Lately when we've been talking about Las Vegas we've only been talking about two things: the craptastic Believe show from Criss Angel and the amazing deals you can find at hotels on the Strip, thanks to the downturn in the economy.

But this New Year's Eve is starting to look a lot like the Vegas heyday of years past. Room rates are not totally out of control but they are much more beefed up than they have been in the past few months. And some hotels are even claiming to be already sold-out.

We've rounded up some of the New Year's Eve rates for hotels on and near the Strip for you after the jump.

We found these rates on Friday, December 26th using the third-party booking sites like Hotels.com and Expedia, as well as the hotel's own sites. We searched for a two-night stay from Dec. 31st to Jan. 2nd. The price you see here is the price on New Year's Eve. The night of January 1st is slightly cheaper depending on the hotel. All rates are subject to change.

1. Palazzo: $349 on hotel's website.

2. Encore Las Vegas: $499

3. Luxor: $279 on hotel's website.

4. MGM Grand: $225

5. Mandalay Bay: $270

5. Wynn Las Vegas: $569

6. New York, New York: $239 on hotel's website.

7. Westin Casuarina: $159

9. Caesars: Sold-out.

10. Mirage: Only room left is a penthouse suite for $1,160 for two nights. Found on hotel's website.

11. Treasure Island: $239 on hotel's website.

12. Flamingo: Sold-out.

13. Monte Carlo: $214

14. Imperial Palace: $150 ($340 on Harrah's website.)

You can still find deals

I am heading out there on Monday.... I am staying at TheHotel at Mandalay Monday night for $110, Palazzo on Tuesday night for $100, and for New Years Eve, Mirage for $199 through Casino Marketing... So, 3 nights for New Years in Veags, for $409...

wow!

you got all those deals through casino marketing? holy cow that is pretty good. so do you have to be a frequent gambler at these hotels to get those discounts?

Some what of a deal.

I went to Las Vegas on Dec.31,2008 and stayed at the Wild Wild West. It was a hole-in-the wall place, but I only paid $129.00 + taxes. So it served it's purpose, a bed and a place to change my clothes. I had a great time. I think I will do it again at the end of this year 2009.

Hotel Rates Get Higher on Holiday

When i came to Vegas in 2007, the rates wasn't as high as now. But that's an incredible moment ever.
