If partying with Perez Hilton at the Gansevoort Hotels this New Year's Eve doesn't seem like your cup of tea, nor does staying in a cheap hotel room in Newark (as one press release recently advised New Year's Eve revelers to do) then head uptown to Jumeriah Essex House on Central Park South for a classier evening.

The hotel has put together it's New Year's Eve in the City Escape package that includes accommodations, a five-course dinner by chef Kerry Heffernan in the hotel's South Gate restaurant (pictured), dancing and a champagne toast at midnight. The next day, treat yourself to an in-room brunch.

The package requires a two-night minimum stay (Dec. 31st and Jan. 1st) and rates begin at $695 plus tax. For reservations, call (212) 247-0300 and mention "New Year’s Eve in the City Escape Package.”

If that's too pricey for you, the hotel has a Shop and Stay package that's also available for $395 a night which includes a 15% Savings Certificate to Bloomingdale's, a signature Bloomie's gift, a complimentary Frozen Yogurt or Cappuccino and another signature gift with purchases of $200 or more. So what will it be--fine dining and dancing this New Year's or shopping? We know what we'd pick....
