Shangri-La Santa Monica Now Open for Real

The Shangri-La Santa Monica was hoping to be open by last Friday and some good news has arrived in your stocking: the hotel is officially open. The Shangri-La was to first re-open after an extensive top-to-bottom overhaul way back in October but construction got a bit slowed down. Then there were several false starts in the past two months but we can tell you the hotel is open tonight and taking guests.

The hotel is offering its introductory rate of $265 a night for a deluxe ocean room. Also open are the one bedroom ocean view suites with "cuisinettes" for $395 a night. The rest of the other room categories do not appear to be online yet.

The hotel is not quite finished either so as with all hotel openings, you should call the hotel beforehand to find out what is open, what is not and when construction work is going on. (There is no notice on the website.) Lastly, remember this hotel is not a part of the Shangri-La Hotels & Resorts group. But if you want a hotel in Santa Monica near all the action, you will find what you want here as the hotel is close to the famous Pier, the Third Street Promenade and after a short walk, the actual beach.
