The Mentalist at Hooters Is Offering Comp Show Tickets

It's been a while since we wrote about Hooters Las Vegas but the hotel casino is still alive and kicking. And if you have no intention of wasting your money on Criss Angel's shiteous "Believe" show (even after the 40 percent discount), then head over to Hooters to see The Mentalist (aka Gerry McCambridge--not the guy who plays "The Mentalist" on TV.)

Why? For starters, this magician Twitters. Awesome. Second, he's offering comp tickets to his nightly 7pm show at Hooters on his website. More awesome. Anything free in Vegas in this economy is fine by us!

But interestingly, he has no beef with Criss Angel. According to Las Vegas' own gossip pirate, Norm Clarke reported The Mentalist dragging Criss Angel and his girlfriend Holly Madison up on stage during one of shows and asking if Angel wanted to propose (see "Sightings.") More proof that it was legit? The Mentalist Twittered it. Perhaps HotelChatter has a new crush?

Have you seen The Mentalist? How does he compare with Danny Gans, Criss Angel and "The Mentalist" TV show? Let us know.

Rant to end all rants... Bad Las Vegas shows

Ok, hold on to your hats, this one is going to be a rant. Having recently sat through a sitting of both The Mentalist and the Chris Angel show I would have to suggest that anyone looking to view these shows just simply stay away.

Chris Angle was horrible, I saw the show on a set of comped tickets with a face value of $137 and sat center stage, center showroom. Great seats, unfortunately that was about the only thing great about the show. The show was drab, long, and entirely uninteresting. The few magic acts that were in the show were horribly thought out and not even remotely convincing. The key trick in the show was possibly the single worst magic act I have ever placed my eyes on (hint to the producers: from twenty rows deep in the crowd, and after sucking down 5 $12 Luxor "vodka 7's" I as an audience member should not be able to tell the difference between Cris' facial skin tone and the horribly matched flesh pallet of the animatronic severed legs.)If I would have paid $37 dollars for those tickets, let alone the insane amount the cirque box office is charging, I would have been sorely disjointed, disturbed, and disappointed.

As for The Mentalist; while the show is slightly better (very slight) then "Believe" it is still sub pair and not worth the time any audience member would invest into it. Also not noted in your posting the free tickets do have a two drink minimum attached, with the current cost of drinks in Las Vegas (management of this town really needs to understand that the way to increase gaming revenue and pack their casinos in this difficult economic climate is to drop the price of drinks to virtual cost. Mark my words, the casino that offers $1 call drinks in their casino will be the busiest casino in town. Cheap drinks equals heavy drinking and one of the major resorts needs to realize this; even if it means selling drinks and a minimum loss. But I digress) that two drink minimum gets quite expensive. Frankly, the show is just not worth two hours of your night.

In a town with so many great shows, and so many shows at extreme discounts, it is just not worth your time sitting in a "showroom" (The Mentalist is housed in a converted bar) watching a subpar magic act. If you are looking for a discounted magic show try Steve Wyrick at the Planet Hollywood (you should be able to find tickets for under $50 easily.)

Just a final note, if coming to Las Vegas avoid 'Bite' at all costs, it is the single worst show in town. I saw it on a comp and honestly wanted to demand my money back, there is no amount of drinks that could stave off the stench that was that "vampiric rock opera." End rant :^P
