Which Star Athlete Got Baked and Broke His Hotel Room TV's?

This morning's Page Six has a sweet little hotel-room-destruction blind item about a certain Olympian who has been causing a bit of (harmless!) trouble of his fair share of hotels lately. Can anyone guess who? From the Post:

WHICH Olympic champion smoked pot for the first time recently at a Michigan hotel? The stoned athlete broke the TVs in his room, but later bought exact replicas so he could replace them before anybody at the hotel was the wiser.

Could they be suggesting...oh, we don't know: Michael Phelps, perhaps?

Probably. Gawker caught a little somethin'-somethin' we were a bit too bleary-eyed to catch in our pre-coffee haze this morning: the Post seems to have "accidentally" run a picture of Anderson Cooper with the item, who did a huge, much-hyped interview with Phelps on 60 Minutes recently. Hmm.

Oh — and we're gonna have to agree with Gawker on something else, too: "When you're in the process of gathering an estimated $100 million in endorsement deals, you don't take the time to get all bashful about paying for your trashed hotel room." True — and if this wasn't totally made up (we're inclined to inquire about what Page Six is smoking), then we'd definitely like to meet whichever member of this particular Olympian's entourage who was assigned the task of finding an exact replica of the hotel room's TV and hooking it all up perfectly. Yeah.

i love MP!

Michael Phelps can do whatever he wants! See my reasons why:

A) He won 8 medals for our country.

B) He has spent most of his life underwater.

C) He may have a banging body but not much else.

D) He will never have to work again. Between his endorsements and his mother's Chico's modeling contract, those two are set.

E) His antics are like so amazing. Passing out at the Palms and destroying hotel TVs? More please.

F) I am guessing those hotel TVs are really gross. Can he do this at a few more hotels with outdated TVs? MP--email me for the list.

They say

the hotel industry is not overbuilt, just under-demolished.

I say we set Michael Phelps loose as our industry wrecking ball!

He has everyone fooled!

So I grew up around the B-more area, as dide Michael, and a few close friends who were big into the whole swimming thing too (not me tho, too cold & wet) told me he is a TOTAL tool bag. Yup, big time. So for me he's def at the top of my Faux Celebs I Hate list. Sorry Juliana! ;-)
