According to the Times Online, there's more to this nightmarish display of excessive energy consumption:
The [hotel's] swimming pool will be refrigerated and there are also proposals to install giant blowers to waft a gentle breeze over the beach.
Is this really necessary? No. It's not. And as if there was any doubt, environmentalists are furious about it though the President of Palazzo Versace told the times that he believed it's possible to design a refrigerated beach "and make it sustainable."
We admit this is kind of cool and we're curious about the concept, but we're afraid that by supporting such a ridiculous amenitiy that our environmental conscience would suffer a whole lot more pain than the soles of our feet would suffer on hot sand.
Better idea: hot beach feet? Meet flip-flops.
