December is for Dior at Paris' Plaza Athénée

We know that this is not the time to be adding overpriced spa treatments onto your room bill, but then maybe it is the perfect time. Paris' revered Plaza Athénée is attempting to reel in anyone heading to the City of Lights for the holidays, because obviously those taking trips to Europe during peak holiday time have the cash to blow on ways to forget about what is happening back at home.

This is where the Plaza Athénée's new Dior Institut Spa steps in, freshly opened this fall and primed for label-happy big spenders. For the month of December, the Athénée is offering a deal to attract vacationers to the spa; their usual nightly rates of € 940 ($1,280) are knocked down to the slightly less astronomical € 650 ($890) for a Superior Room, € 740 ($1,014) for a Deluxe Room and € 875 ($1,200) for a Junior Suite with upgrade.

Spa treatments remain extra, but the theory is that since you've been lured onto the premises, you'll say why not. If you can steer clear of the resident spa programs which require several days of treatments and average € 1400 ($1,920), then splurging on a quick jet-lag lifter seems like a justifiable Christmas present to yourself.
