Andaz West Hollywood Does Have a Plan

December 11, 2008 at 4:52 PM | by | Comment (1)

The other day we were a little dismayed by the Andaz West Hollywood website. For starters, it's pink. Two, it's got some teenaged text bopping around the page which we found to be unusual.

Yet it turns out that unlike most teenagers in the world, Andaz Hotels has a plan. A rep for the hotel brand emailed us this explanation of the website:

Andaz has unveiled a massive piece of artwork that covers the south side of the new (WeHo) hotel, created by Brian Cairns and measuring 86 by 190 feet – the biggest ever on the Strip. This artwork is what the website is currently based on. The website will be constantly evolving however, so this artwork won’t stay on forever on the site. The pink of the Andaz West Hollywood website will evolve as well.

More translating here: The question "What is your Andaz" is a way for the hotel to ask the guest "what's your personal style." The dog, nicknamed Andy, represents the hotel's friendliness and home-like atmosphere. The rest of the graphics are to demonstrate the flexibility of Andaz based on the personal preferences of the guest. So Andaz is like Pretty Woman, whatever you want it to be. The hotel is set for an early January opening.
