Will Hilton's New Boutique Brand Be Named The Quinn?

December 10, 2008 at 9:52 AM | by juliana | 12 Comments

[UPDATE: For the record--According to Hotels Mag Hilton PR people say they have "no information" on this name. But they didn't deny it either.]

There's been a ton of speculation surrounding Hilton Hotel's new boutique brand, headed by former W Hotels man, Ross Klein. So far, the project has been going by the code name Global21. While we thought that brand's unveiling would happen in January, we found out last week that March is probably the more likely time.

Still, we're gonna keep the speculating, gossiping and general rumor mongering alive until then. Starting with this interesting tidbit we received from a very anonymous tipster:

It's going by the code name Global 21, and will probably end up being named The Quinn.

Hmmm...The Quinn. That's interesting. We have no idea what it refers to though.

There's already a group of UK hotels called Quinn Hotels but of course, The Quinn by Hilton has nothing to do with those. Another interesting thing about the hotel name is that several of Hilton Hotels, including the Waldorf-Astoria Collection are repped by PR firm Quinn & Co. Again, just a coincidence.

We're also hearing that there's a lot of tension behind the scenes at Hilton to get this brand finished and revealed to the public. We only need to point you to this comment thread to get the gist of it. But whatever the name may be--Quinn, Global21, Ross Klein Hotels--we're still rabid for more new info on this project. If you got it, send it to us.

What do you think of the name The Quinn? Let us know in comments below.

    Quinn...or The Vox?

A friend of mine who works at Hilton told me they decided on "The Vox" ...Maybe they're still deciding?  Whatever it is...if he's involved it will definitely be cool.  My friend also told me they had a champagne party at his office last week - what are they celebrating?

    ...not too fast...

I'm not sure if either of these is right...  and The Clarendon in Phoenix may be one of the first, in the middle of a sea of Hilton properties, Hilton Suites, Hampton Inn, Hilton Garden Inn, etc...

    marriott

The brand name for the new super luxury Marriott brand is 'Beaux Arts', the first of which is currently under construction directly across from Kimpton's new Epic Hotel in downtown Miami.

    Under Construction

Met 2 Financial Center will include upscale offices; a 42-story JW Marriott Marquis hotel; and the first Hotel Beaux Arts, a new super luxury hotel of Marriott International luxury group.

Met 2 will also house the famous DB Bistro Moderne, now only in New York City. The tower is expected to open in spring 2010.

    Hilton...

My vote is for Vox.  It sounds cooler and actually has some meaning (Latin for voice).  Quinn is very Irish and congers up images of pubs and wool sweaters.

Does anyone have an idea where Hilton may be putting up the first hotel?

    New Hilton Brand

At the recently concluded HGI GM conference Chris Nassetta said that Hilton would be adding 2 new brands (one luxury, one focused service) to "The Family". He did give a 60 day window. Which is which and who is who????

    Q could be Quinn

I have been reading this speculation for sometime and thought I'd add a bit...a friend who works for a  vendor of Hilton told me that they sent this enormous freight to Berlin to be revealed at their opening event and it had a Q on it in different color. Could that be the clue? Hello?
Whatever it is if Ross Klein is involved it should be incredible and innovative.    I have my money on the name being the Quinn....which sounds cool.
