Perhaps you’ve heard we elected a new president last night? Uh, yeah, true story. And now that the bubbly (or hard liquor, depending on how you voted) has invoked its requisite day-after hangover, D.C. hotels are looking ahead to the city’s next big bash: Barack Obama’s inauguration in January.

When we think political events in D.C., it always comes back to a few classic hotels. Right on cue, the Renaissance Mayflower Hotel is offering an insanely luxe inauguration package. Emphasis on insane.

Like 50G insane.

The Ultimate Presidential package includes a three-night stay during inauguration week (the big event goes down Jan. 20) in the Presidential or Mayflower Suite, limo service to and from point of arrival and departure, his and hers inaugural jewelry, Dom Perignon Champagne with Baccarat toasting flutes from Tiffany & Co., in-room massage for two, 24-hour butler service, a inaugural cocktail at the hotel’s Town & Country bar, special pastries, and his and hers inaugural garb from Burberry (“to keep special guests warm during the inaugural ceremony,” says the press release).

All that for the low, low price of $51,000. Um, right.

For those poor schmucks who think a year of top-tier tuition for their kids is more important than three nights at a hotel (honestly, we can’t imagine someone like that), a bargain-basement version is available for $1,500 a night (three-night minimum stay required). The Inaugural Suite package includes a night in a luxury suite with access to the Mayflower Club level plus an inaugural gift at turndown.

Well, prices are surely steep, but from what we can tell, you inauguration-or-bust folks in our midst are running out of options.
