What the Westin JC looks like now.

Find yourself having to come home to Jersey for the holidays but want the option of some New York City action? It's too bad the Westin Jersey City won't be ready for ya! With its proximity to lower Manhattan (one stop to the West Village or two stops to the Financial District) and breathtaking views of the same), the new Westin would have made an excellent option getting in some quality city time over the holiday. Why all the pluperfect subjunctive, you ask? Well, the Westin was originally slated to open its doors this month but now the hot property is delayed until early February 2009.

Virtually straddling the line between being very New York or very New Jersey, the Westin will feature all the techy comforts of a big-business hotel while sitting a quick walk from a fully-fledged suburbanish mall (with a Kohl's and J.C. Penney). Weighing in as a behemoth for the area at 429 rooms and 15 suites, the Westin will also prove to be major competition with its heated indoor pool. Geared towards families and business travelers, we also envision this property as becoming quite popular for small conventions looking to cut back on next year's budgets. Watch out Jersey City, Podiatric conference delegates may be invading your Starbucks early next year!

    Westin Jersey City

A friendly Westin Jersey City insider just emailed that hotel guests might be diving into their Heavenly Beds and heated pool sooner than later. If all goes swimmingly, mark your calendars for a January 20th opening.

    Hideous

I work nearby and can assure you that it is a hideous color.  Hope it adds some life to the area, though.  It is rather sterile here!
