Spotted amongst other depressing business news at The Wall Street Journal online: More than a month after opening their doors on the Palm Jumeirah, the Atlantis Dubai will be toasting their hotel tonight with a massive $20 million dollar shindig. The recession be damned, the Atlantis is going to party like its 1999 with Kylie Minogue performing and Bollywood star Priyanka Chopra serving as "Goddess of Atlantis."

It doesn't nearly end there. The Atlantis has also hired the family behind the Beijing Olympics fireworks to create a display three times the size of their previous masterpiece-in-the-sky. While the rich and influential gaze upwards at the fireworks and the Atlantis' towers, they'll be munching on an "Atlantean Feast" from Michelin-starred and celeb chefs like Nobu Matsuhisa, Santi Santamaria, Michael Rostang and Giorgio Locatelli.

Partying to the tunes of DJ Samantha Ronson will be a slew of international celebs: Lindsay Lohan, Denzel Washington, Robert De Niro, Gerard Butler, Janet Jackson, Lily Allen, Michael Jordan and another Bollywood it-girl, Mallika Sherawat.

Who can even guess how long The Atlantis Dubai will take to recoup the cost of the this party, since their soft opening has been extremely disastrous thus far. With room prices running the gamut from $800 to $25,000 per night, the Atlantis is not for the faint of wallet. Tonight will be a gathering only for the richest of the rich, and we can't wait for the paparazzi pictures tomorrow.

    wow, lindsay lohan?

    the atlantis dubai is obviously living in 2004. there's a recession going on and they want to throw a $20 million party? also, lindsay lohan, really? this girl has not had legit work since 2006.
