Brushfires on Lanai — which burned about 300 acres today — caused the evacuation of all guests and staff at Four Seasons Resort Lanai at Manele Bay. The fire was about a mile from the hotel when the Maui County Fire Department order the hotel to evacuate everyone to Manele Bay Harbor and onto boats.

As of 5:45 pm, evacuated guests and staffers had been allowed to return to the resort, even while firefighters continued to deal with the flames across Lanai. According to the local news, the hotel had issued a statement saying the evacuation was just a precaution and everyone was back at the hotel safely.

Luckily, no injuries have been reported and the hotel has not been damaged at all. But damn, that's gotta be scary (and probably put a damper on everyone' leisurely Hawaiian vacay).
