The hotel itself is a study in manicured, opulent perfection. The Moorish and Mughal architecture is rife with arches and sandstone columns, 64 carved stone fountains, reflection pools, pretty pavilions, shimmering glass chandeliers, and a design heavy in gold leaf. Sure it sounds a little overdone, but come on people, this is India. In the shadow of the Taj Mahal. And there’s also a spa and an apparently amaaaazing restaurant, Esphahan. All we can say is: Amarvilas, you had us at the golf cart.
Of course, all good things come with a gold-plated price tag, and Amarvilas is no charity case. Room rates start at around $625 a night and go way up from there.
