This Funky-Looking Westin Hotel Still Looks Like a Westin on the Inside

Despite the disco lights and bizarre façade, this hotel is not located on the Vegas strip, but instead, in Guatemala City. It's the Westin Camino Real and from what we can tell, the funky facade has not changed the snoozy Westin brand inside, which is still, same as ever.

Thanks to Tom Barnes who dropped this pic in the HotelChatter Flickr Pool, we see that the hotel is quite cool-looking when it's lit up on the outside at night. Inside, however, is not as exciting. The hotel has the requisite Heavenly Bed and Bath in their 271 rooms, along with WestinWorkOut goodies and an overly opulent design that could only have been inspired by the `80s TV series Dynasty.

Gold lamps help create that "Gilded Age" look while swag valances provide a nice reminder of a trend that was popular 20 years ago and wing backed chairs sit ready, waiting for Alexis Carrington to assume her rightful throne. See for yourself here.

The hotel refers to its style as "classic European décor," and the looks extends to the hotel's  Piano Bar where a variety of patterned upholsteries come together, daring bar patrons not to get dizzy and heave all over the blue and gold carpet after tossing a few back. But that issue can be avoided by going to the Biltmore Bar, the pool bar, Café Vienes, or the Cafetal Restaurant, which is simply styled in creams and woods. Of course, being a Westin, the hotel also has a gym.

But the Westin Camino Real certainly has a prime location. Nearby is the Gran Centro Los Próceres shopping center (better known as a mall), the Ixchel Museum of Mayan costumes and the National Museum of Archeology. All that for rates that start at only $129 a night, which is definitely a deal for a Westin.
