How to Make the Omni Hotel's Hot Chocolate

November 6, 2008 at 5:02 PM | 0 Comments

Omni Hotels is once again bringing back their popular "Chuao" gourmet hot chocolate program just in time for the winter.

We have to give Omni some credit--luring people inside their doors by wafting the scent of cocoa. The simplicity of this marketing ploy is what makes it genius...and delicious.

The Venezuelan concoction is served both hot and cold, spicy or mild and spiked or virgin with the Los Angeles and NYC locations creating their own recipes.

If you don't think you'll be stepping inside an Omni anytime soon, here's our cheat sheet for mixing the concoction at home.

This recipe actually came from the general manager at the Omni in LA so you know it's legit..

Chilled Hot Chocolate: Recipe by Daniel Zink, Noe General Manager (at Omni Los Angeles.)

· 1 fresh Jalapeno
· 2 oz Absolut Peppar
· 1 oz Crème de Cacao Dark or Dark Godiva Chocolate Liqueur
· 1 oz Chuao Deluxe Chocolate
· 1 oz Tuaca
· 1.5 oz cream
· Steamed Frothed Milk

Directions: Pour Chuao Deluxe Chocolate around the rim of a chilled martini glass. Slice the Jalapeño very thinly. Muddle 4-5 thin slices of Jalapeño in with the Absolut Peppa.Add Tuaca, Crème de Cacao Dark and Cream. Shake vigorously over ice for 45 seconds and strain into a martini glass. Top with warm foam (a la cappuccino). Garnish with a thin sliver of jalapeno.
