Hotels Do the Weirdest Things To Get Press

It might look like a Pier 1 Imports display or a Pottery Barn catalog. But the bedroom window display in the Downtown Los Angeles with living, breathing people in it is a hotel. Or at least a peek of a new hotel/hostel hybrid.

That's right. Five actor/model/personalities will be living--on display--in two storefront model hotel rooms as part of new and hot Stay's "Stay in a Bubble" Promotion.

How do we know it's hot? Well, from the press release which included descriptors like youthful, high-energy, high-tech, simple, stylish, and inexpensive for the hip and spend-thrify traveler. Also, because they have a wacky marketing campaign. (This is also secret code for "decorated by Ikea.")

Stay, now open, offers "menu-style" accommodations:

The very first Stay offers a menu approach to accommodation selection. Depending upon budget and lifestyle, guests can choose from a wide array of room types and amenities, from private rooms with private baths to shared rooms with shared baths down the hall.

If you're into stalking, you can visit the displays 24 hours a day, seven days a week at 630 and 632 S Main Street. Or if you're not nearby, we found the Stay in a Bubble Blog where you can keep up with all the guests with a live video feed. They'll be there til November 15 (or longer, depending on the success of the promotion).

Additional Stay properties are in the works for San Diego, Hollywood, and San Francisco. Rates start at $35.
