One of D.C.’s most quintessential hotels--the stately Willard InterContinental--gets new spa digs this week. Starting Friday, the Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spa opens for business just two blocks from the White House, replacing the hotel’s former I Spa Center with a fancy new one. We hardly think the timing is coincidence.

Yes siree, come next Wednesday, we can think of a few high-profile individuals who would be wise to give the spa’s offerings a whirl. And some not-so-high-profile individuals too. Heck, we could all go for a little pampering after this election cycle.

We’re thinking the Inaugural Indulgence treatment sounds particularly tempting: an 80-minute facial, 110-minute “stress melter” ritual, seasonal manicure and pedicure, and spa lunch. That costs $555, but maybe we can try cashing in on the RNC’s liberal expense account policy (we joke!).

The Red Door Spa also offers two more punny signature treatments: Secret Services (25-minute facial and massage, plus warm cream manicure for $177) and Presidential Signature (50-minute facial and massage, pedicure, and spa lunch for $355). Not to mention, the spa has a fitness center, four treatment rooms, two pedicure stations, a manicure station, Jacuzzi, steam room, and sauna.

This is, after all, the hotel that’s hosted almost every U.S. president since Franklin Pierce in 1853. We’re going to go ahead and trust that they know a thing or two about stress. We can’t wait to see photos of Dubya unwinding with cucumbers over his eyes.
