Liveblogging the LHW Promotion Do-over

HotelChatter Contributing Editor Abigail M. Schilling woke up at the crack of dawn in Los Angeles to liveblog the LHW promotion do-over. Here's her take on how it all went down.

Reporting from Los Angeles, I am devoted to getting my $19.28 room in the Leading Hotels of the World 1928 Promotion again.

· 6:58 am Ready. Have already had coffee. So going to win this thing!
· 6:59 am Start reloading the page over and over again. This is the kind of thing that crashed the last contest.
· 7:00 am It loads a submit form! Fast! No delays at all!

· 7:01 am I fill out my form which takes a bit of time since I need to fill in four choices of selections. First choice: Chicago, second choice: California, third choice: Arizona, fourth choice: anywhere in North America. Since travel must be completed by Dec. 15, no time to go overseas!
· 7:02 am I get reports that people have submitted forms. Things start popping up in Twitter search.
· 7:03 am I hit submit! Still no technical difficulties!
· 7:04 am The long wait begins. Within seven days, LHW will tell me if I'll have a cheap room to lay my weary head. They say:

Within seven days, you will be notified via email whether or not your reservation request was fulfilled. Reservation confirmations will be automatically generated and sent by The Leading Hotels of the World. If you are in receipt of a confirmation form, please print a copy and present it to reception upon your arrival at the hotel. You will also be required to present proof of identity and residence upon check-in.

That was easy and painless. I definitely think that it was easier for those of us who registered the first time around to complete the form faster because we knew what to expect. We knew that we'd have the choices, we'd already picked our destinations. Because the form loaded so quickly, thanks to the Akamai team, I had absolutely no sense of how many other people were submitting forms when I did, but hopefully they were all vying for European destinations. I will dream I have a chance that until LHW tells me otherwise.

What was your experience? Where are you hoping to go? Has this renewed your faith in Leading Hotels of the World? Tell us in the comments below!

    re:ahaha

Yeah, I didn't have a clock with seconds on it, sadly, so I don't know exactly how long it took me. What selections did you pick?

    hotels

Wheatleigh #1, Hay-Adams #2, Chateau Bonne Entente #3. Basically went for the east coast but would have killed for some of those Euro hotels
