The Resort is designed to look and feel like an Italian seaside village complete with authentic Italian coffee cafes and a "Coliseum" pool, the largest circular pool in the world, with tiered decks and cabanas.
Of course, a Newport Beach resort would be complete without a golf course and the Pelican Hill Golf Club boasts 36 holes designed by Tom Fazio with ocean views from nearly every hole.
However, true luxury is found in the totally private residences--128 villas and 204 bungalows. We're afraid if we experienced the villas we'd never leave:
The appointments will immerse guests in the absolute finest of everything, from the interior finishes, materials and furniture to the glassware and china, including: hand-hewn wood-beam alder ceilings, limestone fireplaces, sumptuous beds with 500 thread-count linens, luxurious baths with fine toiletries from Gilchrist & Soames and marble walk-in showers and deep-soaking tubs, 15-bottle wine cabinets, and the gamut in technology from 60-inch flatscreen HDTVs to Bose audio systems and MP3 ports. Villa guests will enjoy a personal butler and a 24-hour staff to fulfill every need and desire.
Um, personal butler? Very yes.
Bungalows (which are more like suites) start at $695 and villas (which are more like mansions) at $1450. Or get the Ultimate Golf Experience package with accommodations, daily golf for two, fore caddie on course, daily breakfast for two, massage for two, and a special departure gift starting at $1240 including taxes and gratuities.
The resort doesn't officially open until Nov. 26, but the Golf Club and Pelican Grill are already open.
