A rendering of Andaz Austin.

Andaz fever is spreading (we think we just had an Andazm? No?): Hyatt's funky new brand, which first debuted in London and is headed to West Hollywood and Wall Street in the next year or so, has announced plans for two new locations: Austin, Texas and Midtown Manhattan.

First up will be Andaz Fifth Avenue in midtown Manhattan, opening in late 2009. The 144-room property will be directly across from the New York Public Library and will feature a restaurant and bars, one of which is a wine bar and vino shop downstairs in the cellar. The interior spaces will be designed by Tony Chi, who is known for his work with the Park Hyatt Beijing and the MGM Grand Skylofts.

Here's the official description:

Factory-style sash windows will provide the look and feel of an older, historic New York, while black-washed walls and graphic artwork will typify modern-day Manhattan. Vast, tea-stained, resin doors at the main entrance will create a warm, welcoming glow. Eclectic photography will feature artists' conceptions of New York, while hidden quotes and graphic elements will lend a touch of whimsy and humor throughout the space.

Doesn't that sound lovely? Like, if you were Carrie Bradshaw and got jilted at the altar at the NY Public Library, you could run away to Andaz and chill out with some wine and tea-stained resin doors. While it seems like every new brand eyes Texas and heads to Dallas first (NYLO, Aloft, Element), Andaz has chosen the kickass city of Austin to open its first Southern location.

Andaz Austin will a 210-room property opening in 2010, and will be located in the new East Avenue complex (a $750 million "urban community" about three blocks from the UT Austin campus). The city bleeds orange, but the focus here is on green:

The hotel will feature a pool, spa and fitness center, as well as a green roof offering guests and residents a "park in the sky." The property will utilize energy efficient systems, biodegradable products and low impact building materials to the full extent possible. Beverage and food outlets will serve organic, locally-sourced products. The 20,000-square-foot roof will include a restaurant and cocktail lounge showcasing spectacular views of the city skyline and University of Texas campus.

Yes, we just definitely had an Andazm. Har har.
