The hotel used to be the Colony Inn but Paul T. McGowan, the developer behind Hospitality 3, has taken the property into a boutique hotel direction. From the press release:
To provide a completely new identity for the outdated and inadequate Colony, the renovation is both total and comprehensive; even the curtain walls have been replaced.
The new lounge offers spectacular views of the University’s distinctive gothic buildings. The décor, accessories and amenities are all very much in tune with the type of people who will stay at the hotel – sophisticated, well-educated people, many of whom are Yale graduates or distinguished guests of the University.
Details are sparse on the room amenities. Here's what we know so far: "rooms are equipped with state-of-the-art technology and amenities." Hopefully that includes free WiFi. The NYT also mentioned that one suite will be like an artist's studio, complete with art supplies.
Judging from the website, which is called StudyHotels.com, we have to wonder if there will be more of these hotels popping up at college campuses. Perhaps, The Study at Princeton or The Study at Harvard?
Room rates are going to be boutique-range about $200+. But the hotel is already sold out for commencement weekend in May. To sell out a hotel that has very little details and a limited website, now that's impressive.
