Fresh from opening his Chambers Kitchen restaurant inside of Minneapolis' new hot property, The Chambers Hotel, New York chef extraordinaire Jean Georges Vongerichten has returned to the Big Apple to take up another hospitality project.
Jean Georges, who always has something cooking with hoighty-toighty hotels, already owns swanky restaurants Mercer Kitchen at The Mercer and the three Michelin star Jean Georges at the Trump International Hotel. His most recent news is a partnership with the tony six-star Mark Hotel to create yet another dining experience and bring the buzz further uptown.
Designed to be an extension of The Mark's black-and-white marble lobby, the as-yet-unnamed restaurant is due to open just after the first of the year. It will be undoubtedly be positioned in direct competition with The Plaza's revered and freshly-renovated Oak Room as top destination for fancy hotel food, so expect to see the cloud of old-money millionaires migrate a bit farther north for their $80+ entrees.
