Boris Becker: you broke a ton of tennis records and were once the number one player in the world. What are you gonna do now?
Build a 2.5 million square-foot mega-resort shaped like a turtle in the UAE, apparently.
According to Luxist, the German tennis superstar -- who some of us think looks vaguely like Chuck Norris -- is building the Boris Becker Beach Resort and Tennis Academy on Al Marjan Island. The complex will include a five star hotel, a spa, holiday homes, high end resort and spa facilities, and (obvi) a 7-floor tennis academy.
Also, this is important: it is going to shaped like a sea turtle when you see it from the sky. Yep.
Slated for completion in 2010, the resort is reportedly going to stretch from one end of the island to the other and will be partially solar-powered. You've got a decent chance of seeing Boris ballin' around the resort, too: he owns 50% of the tennis academy, is part-owner of the rest of the resort and will co-manage the facility with fellow German Davis-Cup team partner, Eric Jelen.
The place should be a breeding ground for (over-privileged) tennis superstars. We wonder if the sea turtle thing has anything to do with the "breeding" thing. You know? Cause sea turtles are fertile and they like to reproduce? No? Ok.
