Vikram Chatwal: you, sir, are a sneaky one.

We have been so busy obsessing over all the drama with Lamb's Club Hotel that you pretty much flew under our radar with this other NYC property you were developing. Apparently, while we were busy doing that, you kept yourself occupied with converting the Quality Inn in Times Square (which was already part of the Hampshire Hotels Portfolio, we hear) into the swanky new Stay.Hotel -- which opens today.

Yes, for reals. We're psyched. Well, about everything except what appears to be a gimmicky name (there is a period after the word "Stay" on all of their marketing materials; we're just going to ignore that for now).

The Aspen Social Club

The official word from the press release:

Accented by warm copper tones, the 210 well-appointed guestrooms are uniquely-styled with restful functionality in mind. Feather beds, covered in custom designed 300-plus thread count sheets and feather duvets, offer guests the perfect nest in which to recuperate.

The hotel also looks to be pretty hooked up in terms of tech amenities, with interactive in-room LCD displays for ordering food from the room-service menu, Bluetooth and Skype enabled cordless telephones and Bose Wave Audio Systems with iPod cradles.

The Aspen Social Club is being touted as the centerpiece of the hotel: featuring a "massive antler-crowned fire pit", the restaurant/lounge is supposed to make you feel like you're in the real Aspen and the food is a "modern American tastings menu, with a western twist," that mostly offers small plates.

Rates for tonight start at $249 and it looks like there's still quite a bit of availability.

Chatwal, we'll be keeping a closer eye on you from now on.
