Gansevoort South to Get Salon by Aussie Hair Guru

The Gansevoort South hotel is getting closer and closer to opening, finally. We hit up the website and found that they were taking reservations after Feb. 22nd although the only room available was going for $725 a night.
However, if you are looking to get your hair did there you will have to wait until March. That is when Aussie hair guru Rodney Cutler will open his third salon inside the hotel (He has two salons in Manhattan.) WWD reports:
The 1,100-square-foot, 11-chair salon was designed by Peter Millard and is a Redken concept location that will offer many of the same features provided by Cutler's Manhattan units -- editorial fashion images, complimentary scalp and shoulder massages and a full complement of Cutler and Redken products -- but will also take its cue from the hip Gansevoort vibe, said Cutler.
"Everything we do, I feel we have to cater to the neighborhood," he said. "The Gansevoort is clean and minimal with lots of texture, and our decor will reflect that. "
Cutler's hair products will also be found in-room for guests and full-sized products will be available in the mini-bar as well.
All of this has us wondering, are celebrity hair stylists in hotels the new celebrity chef-helmed restaurants?
