Cubicle Dreamin' is a feature in which we ask the hotel mavens to take some time out of their busy work day, surf the Internet, and tell us what hotel they wish they could beam themselves to right that very second--all on the slave driving companies dime, of course. Oh, like these people aren't surfing aimlessly anyway--at least now their purposeless clicking will be cobbled together into useful hotel stories--we hope. Have a destination hotel you are just dying to leave your cube for? Send the story our way.

In this episode, Senior Editor Juliana details a "Women's Fiction"-inspired escape. Enjoy.

I don't really buy into hotel romance packages. As HotelChatter's own Tim Leffel has consistently pointed out, romance packages are just another way for hotels to overcharge you for silly stuff like chocolate-covered strawberries and erotic bath soaks.

Although once upon a time, a hotel did decorate my bed with rose petals and it kinda melted my hard hotel-critiquing exterior.

But I am intrigued by a recent Valentine's Day hotel package that I came across and my interest really has nothing to do with love and everything to do with a new obsession with Tudor monarchs.

You see, I was bored in the airport one day and I bought a copy of The Other Boleyn Girl a historical novel about Anne Boleyn's sister (who was real.) Well, two months later and I am pretty much done with the entire backlist of Philippa Gregory's novels about the Tudors.

Yes. My name is Juliana and I am addicted to Women's Fiction novels about Tudor Monarchs. (But at least I'm learning some history, ok?) Which is why this package from the Stafford Hotel in London has me anxiously wishing I could flee my "cubicle" and spend a night or two in London.

MORE

A long time ago I went to London when I was more into meeting boys than seeing the sights, so 10 years later all I can recall from my trip is the Westminster Abbey (because there's a picture of me outside of it) and some bar in Soho where I spent three nights in a row. Ahh...youth.

However, I did go to the Tower of London--an important place in Tudor history--but I don't really remember what I saw. So now, armed with all this fantastic fictionalized, sensationalized information about the royals, I am dying to see it all again.

The Royal Valentine package at the Strafford includes typical romanticky stuff like a private dinner, candle-lit dinner in the hotel's 350-year-old wine cellar (limited availablity though) and champagne in-room upon arrival.

But the package also includes two tickets to visit the historic Tower of London and view the crown jewels, as well as two tickets to see the dress collection of Princess Di at Kensington Palace. So I can fulfill my Tudor and royal monarch obsession and even get some nookie time with my amour.

Even better, the hotel is offering two nights accommodations in a one-bedroom suite with breakfast and for an American traveler like myself the hotel is offering a fixed exchange on room rates of $1.80 to £1.

This all sounds amazing and then the price hits me--$6,859 total. Thank God "The Tudors" is coming back on Showtime this weekend. That's a much cheaper alternative. Or maybe I could stay here?

Note: The package is valued 2/7/08-2/17.200* and is subject to current exchange rate. Contact hotel directly to book at +44 207 493 0111.
