Where to Stay with Kids in New York City, Part Deux

January 23, 2008 at 12:07 PM | by NatalieWW | 0 Comments

HotelChatter's contributing editor NatalieWW knows a thing or two (or more) about kids and traveling with 'em. Here she returns with some more favorite fam-friendly hotels for New York City.

70 Park Avenue is primarily known as an upscale boutique hotel from Kimpton. And yet, it is surprisingly family-friendly. Case in point: the Murray Hill neighborhood location is primarily residential yet also walking distance to many prime attractions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Empire State Building, Broadway and Times Square. Thirty connecting rooms are available, which lends itself well to larger families or parents of older kids wishing a little privacy.

Rooms have great kid approved features, such as enormous TVs, Nintendo, interactive KioPhones, and MAINstage audio systems. Watch for Kimpton's signature "Kids Rule" programs and indulge in fab-o kids' amenities like cooking classes taught by a member of the Silverleaf Tavern's culinary team, arrival amenities including coloring books, crayons and puzzles, and milk-and-cookies turndown service.

Best of all, they offer an in-room pajama party complete with pizza, ice cream & soda. AND the hotel provides a babysitter while Mom & Pop take a romantic chauffer-driven limo ride around town and enjoy dinner for two.

If you have the budget and want to stay somewhere luxurious, the Four Seasons New York is actually child-friendly. Lavish amenities for the kids are included -- including their own toiletries and bathrobes.

Children under 18 stay free (although at nearly $600/night "free" is a relative term), and they offer activities for the kiddies as well as special menu items. Complimentary cribs, strollers, games, coloring books, and a DVD and video game lending library round out the features catering to families. Very, very wealthy families.
