Thanks to adventurous traveler Andy we have a first look at the Atlantis Resort in Palm Jumeirah, Dubai which is scheduled to open in Fall 2008. Like its Bahamian counterpart, the Atlantis Palm Jumeirah will feature a similar design of two hotel towers linked by an arch, tons of rooms (1,000 at least) and a huge water park on Palm Island, a man-made island off the coast of Dubai.

Also on site will be an artificial marine habitat with over "65,000 marine creatures, snorkel trail, dolphin encounter program, water slides, and The Dig, an Atlantis-themed 'archaeological' experience." Can you say kid-friendly?

The Full Report from Andy after the jump.

The full report from Andy:

I was just recently visiting Dubai for winter break. My family and I decided to take a boat around the the Palm Jumeirah in Dubai (the first of three palm tree shaped islands to be nearing completion) so we could see how construction was going on the fall '08 opening of the Atlantis Resort joint-venture in Dubai. The resort is situated at the very top and center of the palm.

The first picture is a general view of the back of the hotel that faces the water.

The second photo is the left side of the resort; you can see the temple water park and the planned monorail that will end up circulating all around Dubai.

The third photo is more of a close up of the temple slide, and you can see the Burj Al Arab in the distance.

The fourth photo is of the tower suite that is located at the center of the royal towers.

The fifth photo is a rendering of what the resort is supposed to look like when completed. (The photos are as of Dec. 28, 2007)

Thanks, Andy!
