Hotel Laundry Service Goes Hi-Tech
January 18, 2008 at 9:30 AM | 1 Comment

While we love a good hotel gadget that comes in our room with a remote control, we are also keen on hearing about how hotels are using cutting edge technology to help them run in a more environmentally friendly way. Some Hilton hotels have been involved in a hi-tech scheme to conserve energy in the hotel laundry, and the system's about to be put on show.
It turns out that cutting energy (and water) use in the laundry is about more than those signs that ask you to hang your towels up again if you don't want them washed that day. At the Hilton Minneapolis they've been testing the Ozone Laundry System, and the conclusion is they've saved 50% of laundering costs by reducing the use of hot water and chemicals, yet they say the quality of washing is the same or even higher.
On February 1 the Hilton Chicago will be holding a "Green Day Event" where the Ozone Laundry System will be on display, along with all kinds of other cool technologies for making hotels greener. Should be more of it, we think.
