A Wheel-Shaped Hotel is Planned for Dubai

January 11, 2008 at 1:34 PM | by juliana | 2 Comments

Yesterday we had wacky news that Travelodge UK would be creating a recyclable hotel from steel shipping crates and today we learn that a wheel-shaped hotel is planned for Dubai. You can't say hotels aren't thinking out of the box.

CasaDubai reports that the circular hotel, called The Icon, will be built along the Dubai Promenade, another man-made peninsula that will feature residential towers, retail offerings and a 60-berth marina.

There's not much on the actual wheel-shaped hotel except this statement from the developers Nahkeel:

"The hotel's unprecedented shape and structure will be spectacular and no other skyline in the world offers anything like it."

Expect this hotel to open sometime in 2010.

Whatever - that is a donut! And the hole of the donut is some serious wasted space...they better bring a light show or hologram up in that. They have such a carnival coast already...first the QEII and now this?
