Hotel Delay: Westin Dubai Turns January into June

With almost clockwork regularity, we bring you another tale of a hotel opening gone wrong. Not wrong, exactly, just half a year late. Last September we promised you that the Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina would be open during January 2008--on Saturday, to be precise. But there's no point being precise because the hotel opening delay fairy has arrived and shifted the grand opening date.
The Westin Dubai now insists it will be ready for guests as of June 1, 2008. Group inquiries are open at an office inside the resort, but they haven't yet given a date when private or individual reservations will be able to be made.
When the Westin Dubai does hit the scene it will add 294 rooms to the Dubai hotel market, and they're doing a bit of marketing to push the "Heavenly Bed" that is supposed to guarantee us the best night's sleep ever, or something like that. It's a five-star resort including a gym and spa, plus it's right next door to an enormous shopping mall, so there should be plenty of activities to keep guests occupied. Once the guests are able to check in, that is.
