Work is far from finished on The Plaza, but it's always a good sign when scaffolding comes down as a project gets closer to completion. With the historic hotel set to re-open in January, it's probably for the better that the only work left to do is interior.

That said, there's still plenty of stuff scattered all over the sidewalks nearby, which they'll probably want to clean up before the 100th birthday party on Monday night. Mayor Bloomberg and other VIPs will stop by to catch a fireworks show, starting at 7:20 pm. Then it's back inside to dig in to a 12-foot-high cake replica of the hotel.
