Party Dispatch :: Oceana Hotel's Opening Party

Last night was the official opening party for the Oceana Hotel in Santa Monica. As you may recall, we toured the place over the summer when it had just completed its top to bottom renovations and we really liked what we saw. Except the room prices which are $400+.

Nevertheless, the hotel threw a huge hotel opening party to let people know the Oceana Santa Monica and its beach luxury chic has arrived.

Musicians greeted guests outside the hotel. Immediately as you step inside young and handsome cocktail servers offered up some Veev cocktails with a "green" spin like the eco-tini and rain forest concoctions.

In the courtyard/pool area there was a band playing from the second level and either Caribbean or Brazilian dancers in crazy headgear shaking their thing around the pool. Two bars were open for guests, treats were being served and everyone seemed to be having a good time.

And there was a lot of "everyone" around. Since the hotel was giving tours of a deluxe suite as well as offering fortune-telling and hand and foot massages in other suites, people were found on every floor.

We later learned how many people must have showed up to the party when 40 minutes after arriving and only 50 minutes after the party's official start time, we waited 20 MINUTES to get our car from valet. We almost missed our dinner reservations and the only thing that made it bearable was that they were serving mini-donuts next to the valet stand. Yes, we are that easy to please.
