College Football Hotel Map: Where to Stay Near UF

The college football season is in full swing, so we here at HotelChatter are doing our best to help you fans support your alma mater in the best way we know how, with our College Football Hotel Map, a guide of where to stay when you attend the games.

We conclude our first batch of College Football hotels with the University of Florida, currently holding the #3 spot on the AP's Top 25 College Football rankings. While we love Gatorade, we're not so we are keen on Gainesville (hello, Gainesville murders of 1990).

We're also getting pretty sick of writing about Hampton Inns, Days Inns, Comfort Suites and the likes. Instead, we're picking one hotel close to campus and the Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (aka The Swamp) and then looking further outside. Do you really want to waste your trip to Florida in a budget motel? We don't.

Our Picks After the Jump.

· Braving Gainesville for the Night: The Hilton--University of Florida & Conference Center

Even though this hotel was ranked #4 on TripAdvisor behind a Best Western, a Country Inn and a Homewood Suites, we think you would be happier here. The location is on campus and guests reported snagging a room with a AAA discount for around a $100 a night. Another said:

The hotel is in a great location - just across the street from the University of Florida campus. There are plenty of stores and restaurants around. The hotel is clean and in good repair. The rooms spacious with a large closet. The beds are doubles, small but comfortable.

· Good for Day-Tripping to Gainesville: The Herlong Mansion B&B

This quaint B&B is located in Micanopy between Gainesville and Ocala so you can probably day-trip to UF for the game but retreat back to the peace and safety of this old South lodging. The place was built back in 1845 as a family house and supposedly some ghosts still haunt the place. The house was turned into a B&B sometime in the 1990s.

Still retaining its Victorian beauty and with a unique eclectic style, it has six beautifully decorated guest rooms, three suites, and three charming cottages.

Rooms go for about $150 a night.

· Totally Not Near Gainesville But Still Do-Able: The Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island

The Ritz is located just outside Jacksonville which is about 2 hours from the UF campus. But staying here will be worth it. For starters, you're on a bluff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Plus there's tons of golf available (the hotel's course is closed for renovations but there are other options) and did we mention it's a Ritz? Naturally, this is a pick for the older established alumni and we suggest having a driver take you to and from the game.
