Because this is LA and because this is USC aka University of Spoiled Children, we've divided your hotel options into categories based on your tax bracket.

· 15%, Poor Alumni: The Radisson Midtown Los Angeles

This hotel is literally across the street from some USC dorms and probably about a half-mile from the Coliseum, totally walkable.

While we doubt there are any "poor" USC alumni, this is a great spot for those watching their budget or for those who just want to be as close to the USC action as possible. But remember: it's a Radisson and it's in downtown Los Angeles. You do the math. A couple of people on TripAdvisor have complained that the rooms are gross and the service was terrible. Indeed one reviewer said, "I would only stay here if I were going to a USC game."

But if it's school spirit that you are looking for, you will find it here as evidenced in another review:

The front desk staff was friendly, everyone was wearing USC stuff so it was great to see the staff as excited as me and my friends were about the game!!!!! Go Trojans!
.....But the food and sports bar were great! It was definitely was place to be after the game. Lots of USC fans celebrating which was really fun.

Rooms for this Saturday, Sept. 22 were starting at $199 a night. Sheesh, even in the ghetto of USC rooms aren't cheap.

· 25%, Middle-Class and New Alumni: The Standard Hotel Downtown LA

If you're not quite into kicking it with the USC kids near their dorms or staying in a Radisson, but you don't want to stray too far from the Coliseum consider the Standard Hotel in downtown LA.

It's also perfect for the younger alum who doesn't want to look too eager to relive their college days but wouldn't mind a stroll down the Row at 3am for old time's sake.

Rooms for Sept. 22 started at $245 a night.

· 28%, Older Alumni and Families: The Omni Los Angeles

This hotel is also in downtown and it's a good choice for families and older alumni. However, it is trying to attract some younger dudes with its "Get Your Game On" package which includes deluxe room accommodations, a sports DVD, a rock CD, beer of your choice with gourmet chips & salsa and an Art of Shaving travel kit. Prices range from $219 to $279 a night.

· 35%, Rich Alumni: The Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire

We chose this hotel because we had a friend whose wealthy USC alumni parents only stayed here when they came into town for any USC games. But in reality the rich alumni of USC, and there are many, will probably stay at any luxury hotel in Beverly Hills. Indeed, the Trojan players and alumni donors once held their awards banquet at the Beverly Hilton so anything in 90210 is safe. Just expect to pay $400 and up.

· A Hotel to Avoid: The W Westwod Hotel

C'mon this hotel is smack in the middle of prime enemy territory: UCLA. It would only be acceptable to stay here if you book your room right after USC whomps UCLA and then you and your fellow Trojans spend the night by the pool singing the victory song.
