We love the W New York Union Square because it's within walking distance of everything: Greenmarket, Trader Joes, SoHo and Murray Hill, without being in Midtown. Plus, it's got a great bar--one that's as perfect for a nightcap before bed, as an after hours drink.

While Underbar used to be home to some of the city's hippest parties, the scene is a bit more white collar and laid back these days. The minimalist décor is perfect for sophisticated cocktails and soft lighting makes it perfect for a hot date.

So why do people love it so much? It could be the creative cocktails like a Raspberry Sunrise or the velvet couch arrangments but we have a feeling its the curtain-enclosed VIP cubbies lining the room.

Perfect for conversation and canoodling, these nifty nooks sport the best service. Pull the cord inside, and a waitress appears--a touch of luxury that helps take the sting out of your steep bar tab.
