Speaking of Hotel Restaurants....

Just to follow-up on our last post about the Oceana Santa Monica, we checked out another hotel restaurant this past weekend, Coast, at Shutters on the Beach.

Originally, this was a casual beachfront breakfast and lunch spot called Pedals. After a big renovation the place is still a casual brunch spot but the decor has been kicked up a few notches. We're not interior designers but if we had a home to decorate, we would model it after Coast.

It's a bit like a room in a Pottery Barn catalog but when you are steps away from the beach, this blue and white decor with dark wood furniture feels so right. And the food does too.

Other hotel restaurants of note:
· Kimpton is doing an overhaul of its San Fran hotel restaurants [BizJournal]
· THOR restaurant getting a makeover [Eater]
· NYC's Library Hotel to get Madison & Vine restaurant [NYT, under "Looking Ahead"]
· Jill's Harvest Tea at the St. Julien Hotel on Sept. 29 will highlight food grown in 100-mile radius of Boulder [St. Julien Hotel]
· Gourmet burgers and Beer at the Avalon Hotel's blue on blue restaurant in Beverly Hills [Avalon Hotel]
