Recently, we've been comparing the thrice-delayed Hotel Le Bleu to the eternally unopened Six Columbus but maybe we are being a little harsh.

A tipster informs us that the Hotel Le Bleu is indeed finished inside and out but they are simply waiting on a certificate of occupancy report from the city. This report did check out when we did a quick search on the NYC Buildings web site. Yet since we're not on the ground in Brooklyn we don't have any pictures of what the construction progress looks like, if there's anything left. (Hint, Hint.)

However, we do have a neighborhood description from someone and it goes a little something like this:

The Hotel's location is so odd... smack dab between a Yellow Cab depot and a U-Haul. And I'm talking full parking lots of those nasty vehicles. That is the view from the balcony, or if you're lucky the Gowanus Canal. Plus, the hotel's parking lot can only be entered from somewhere behind the hotel and if you are a guest approaching from there, you don't get to see the front and might mistake it for a Super 8.

Our informer also got to peek inside.

The lobby is hmmm...I'd compare it to the size of my boss' office. There were people setting up computers in there this weekend, however. The dividers on the balconies do not afford privacy between suites nor from the streets.

The newest opening date is now October 1.

Meanwhile, Six Columbus is mired in construction and some permit violations, although they did obtain a temporary certificate of occupancy. Still, our money's on Hotel Le Bleu.
