Starwood Hotels keeps their hotel hype machine running at full-speed with the latest news on their upcoming lowercased brands aloft and element hotels. Keep in mind, these hotels still aren't open yet. But someday, someday son, they will be everywhere.
We hear that the groundbreaking is being held today for the aloft Chesapeake hotel which is set for a Summer 2008 opening. After the ceremony, guests will be able to check out the famous aloft-a-go-go airstream for a glimpse at what the aloft decor will be like. If you can't make it, no worries. The airstream has its own blog.
Also it looks like aloft has a new tag line: "the new twist in travel." All lowercase with the w bolded as a way to show that it's a spin-off of the W Hotels franchise. Another thing we noted on the invite to the groundbreaking is this helpful direction to the location: "Between Towers Perrin and Residence Inn by Marriott."
Uh-oh, Bill. You better spruce that place up!
More on element after the jump.
Meanwhile, an element hotel will open in Irving, Texas according to a recent press release:
Irving's newest hotel will offer a new extended stay experience that combines smart design, nature-inspired, and eco-friendly touches. Modern amenities range from WiFi to an international pantry stocked with everything from Korean kimchi soup to dolmades, a Greek favorite. Guests will leave Irving's newest hotel knowing what it truly means to wake up and thrive.
The groundbreaking for this element already happened last Thursday and when completed in October 2008, will have 123 guestrooms, modular furniture, swiveling flat-screen televisions, large desks with open shelving and custom-designed closets.
And since this is an extended-stay brand that is spun-off from Westin Hotels, there will be a modern kitchen, a Westin Heavenly Bed and contemporary bathrooms with oversized spa showers.
