Checking Out San Diego's Rooftop Hotel Bars

Altitude Skybar at Marriott San Diego in the Gaslamp Quarter.

An article in this month's Budget Travel mentioned 25 things to love about San Diego. And since we're big San Diego lovers we had to check it out.

The very first thing that BT loves is the rooftop bar at the Hotel Solamar, which we've already checked out. But BT informs us that the Marriott in the Gaslamp Quarter also has a bar atop their hotel, the Altitude Skybar. Here's a description from the hotel website.

Flickr has some photographic evidence of the ballpark views and they are pretty sweet.

Yet those two aren't the only ones with rooftop bars in San D. We cover a few more after the jump.

Of course we have to mention the W Hotel San Diego which has its infamous Beach Bar on the rooftop. There is real imported sand and real imported tourists often hanging about there.

The new Ivy Hotel has its Eden Rooftop pool/bar area which is open until midnight during the week and until 2am on Thursday, Fridays and Saturdays.

The forthcoming Hard Rock San Diego will have its own outdoor nightlife (from Rande Geber!) as well.

The Omni San Diego has a 6th floor rooftop Terrace Grill which is also where the pool is located. But you better get your drink on early here as the place shuts down by 7pm.

Meanwhile, at the Manchester Grand Hyatt you can have drinks by at the pool on the fourth floor (hours are seasonal but we doubt they are open late) or you can shuffle to the Top of the Hyatt on the 40th floor which stays open until 1:30am and offers prime views of the city, the bay, Coronado Island and beyond.
