After new owners Michael Webster and Seth Kelman bought the Stevenswood Spa Resort three years ago, they were ready to give it a good makeover. And what a makeover it was. The hotel is now a luxury eco-lodge with ten suites, and the renos included using reclaimed wood and floors made from recycled wine corks (that's a lot of drinking).

They're also very "eco" for belonging to the local "100 mile initiative", where they do their best to buy supplies and provisions from have their origin less than a hundred miles away.

The Italian micro-fiber sofas that adorn the suites failed this test, but presumably the Stevenswood Spa's restaurant passes it at least most of the time.

Each suite has views of the relaxing setting: gardens, ocean, fields and forest. Inside the suites you can sit in front of a wood fireplace in winter, enjoy free Wifi, an iPod dock, cordless phone and a plasma TV. And then there's the Indigo Eco Spa which includes stuff like a tranquility room, cold plunge, infrared sauna and body, skin and facial treatments.

The biggest boast that Stevenswood Spa Resort makes is the number of staff. Having something over thirty employees means that the average number of staff to each guest room is over three: that's a lot of personal attention.

This attention can cost from $149 for the Queen Suite in low season up to $895 for the Grande Owner's Suite in peak.
