Hotel Gansevoort To Get Second NYC Location?

Down by the Hipster blog is reporting that there may be a second Hotel Gansevoort in the works--this time in the Park Ave South 'hood. DBTH writes:

A little birdy tells us, "plans are well underway for a new Gansevoort to open on Park Avenue South in the low 20's. They will open Miami first and then fully ramp up construction on the new New York location."

The Miami location is the Gansevoort South which will probably open sometime in early 2008 so don't expect the Gansevoort II to open until sometime in 2009.

Of course, the Gansevoort II will offer more competition in the area--namely for GPH and W Union Square--but by 2010 there are going to be a crapload of new hotels in downtown so every hotel is going to have some competition. Hopefully, this will cause rates to come down but we won't be surprised if they don't.
