Down in Mexico the Paraiso de la Bonita Resort has decided that putting guests up in luxury for a few days is not enough: they want people to get out there into the natural environment. You see, the resort is a member of the World Heritage Alliance so they have to do their bit to support the World Heritage Sian Ka'an Biosphere that's just an hour and a half away.

The Biosphere has been around for over 20 years and is the largest protected area in the Mexican Caribbean. It has unique wetlands and archeological sites as well as hundreds of bird species and over a hundred known kinds of mammals too. This makes it important, beautiful and worth visiting: even the hotel thinks so.

Right now the Paraiso de la Bonita is offering a 4-night Sian Ka'an Eco-Experience package, with accommodation in a luxury ocean view suite, a dinner in their Michelin-chef-led restaurant, and an excursion to the Biosphere Reserve; package costs start at $1,999. When you're not in the Biosphere you can relax at the resort's Thallasso Center Spa or explore the coastal barrier reef nearby (it's the second largest in the world).

The only bit that makes us stop and think a bit is the promise of a private transfer from the airport to resort using their fleet of air conditioned White Lincoln Navigators. Shouldn't eco-excursions be in eco-cars? Hope someone helps out and sells the Paraiso de la Bonita a few hybrid automobiles.
