Marriott Decides to 'Get Jiggy' with Free WiFi
Marriott has announced free WiFi at five of their chain Courtyard, Residence Inn, Fairfield Inn, TownePlace Suites and SpringHill Suites.
Having introduced free guest room high-speed and WiFi Internet access three years ago, these five Marriott brands are again responding to guests' needs, eliminating WiFi charges for guests in lobbies and other public areas.
This means for on-the-go guests free WiFi hotels are a part of Marriott's overall package of services designed to enhance guests' experiences in the new lobby and public spaces being introduced by most of these brands.
There are no plans for the Marriott flagship brand, Ritz-Carlton and we highly doubt that Schrager Hotels by Marriott will get free WiFi. And they are a little late to the game, despite their attempts at being hip by titling the release "What's Hot? Free WiFi and Marriott's Got It." (They also manage to throw in the phrase "pretty cool" in a press release.)
But this is a huge step in the right direction for Marriott and especially for these brands which cater to the business traveler crowd. Now, let's just hope that the internet is really free and working.
