Two New Orleans Hotels Getting Big Changes
If you're heading to New Orleans anytime soon, be aware that these hotels are undergoing renovations.
Two Big Easy hotels, The Renaissance Pere Marquette and The New Orleans Marriott, are getting big-time spruce-ups this year.
The Renaissance Pere Marquette is undergoing a $5 million renovation split into two phases. The first stage, which kicked off July 1, includes a makeover of the front desk and concierge spaces and a brand new restaurant helmed by a mystery celebrity chef (we'll let you know). Phase Two begins September 12th with the addition of a jazz bar concept and a "Great Room":
"The "great room" concept will be carried throughout the lobby area and will add scents, jazz music, set lighting and decorative accessories to enhance guests' sense of arrival. Additionally, the "great room" will include an area with books and magazines for guests and wireless Internet throughout.
Oh, and a new Starbucks is on its way, too.

Meanwhile, the New Orleans Marriott has been working on a $38 million revamp since 2005 and it's slated to wrap up this year. The 1,290 room property has been undergoing a total makeover--- the most comprehensive and expensive in the hotel's history--- which started with an update of all guest rooms. The public spaces have all been modernized, the check-in and concierge areas have been made more guest friendly and the restaurant has been redecorated and the menu redesigned. The parking garage is also being restored and a new elevator system is on the way. And so is a Starbucks.
The New Orleans Marriott overhaul is set to be completed by late Summer 2007, while the Renaissance Pere Marquette should be done by December 15th.
