Caesars Palace To Get Even Bigger; $1 Billion Expansion Planned

July 20, 2007 at 11:37 AM | by juliana | 1 Comment

We like Caesars Palace and all but we are not sure what warrants this announcement from Harrah's about a $1 Billion expansion plan for the hotel and casino.

Globe Street reports:

The centerpiece of the expansion is Octavius Tower, a new $375-million, 23-story hotel building that will adjoin Augustus Tower, which opened in 2005.

The second floor of the new 665-room hotel tower will be lined with pool suites overlooking three new swimming pools that will rim an expanded outdoor whirlpool spa retreat, a poolside cafe and a nearby garden wedding venue.

The new tower is not expected until sometime in 2009 and will bring the hotel's room count to about 4,000. Also the existing Forum tower will get an $83 million reno along with a new front entrance and an enlarged Race & Sports Book. Whoa.

Meanwhile, The Luxor Hotel will be saved from completely crapping out as its owners have decided to overhaul the place from top to bottom or point to base is it?
