The Beverly Hills Hotel Opens NINETEEN12 Hotel Bar

Much like its counterpart, The Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire on Wilshire Boulevard, The Beverly Hills Hotel has added a fresh new bar/dining experience, turning an old stuffy tea room into yet another hip place to be seen on Sunset Boulevard.
Named after the year the hotel first opened, NINETEEN12 (we have no idea why the first part has to be all caps) was described by Citysearch as:
luxury amid jewel-toned sofas and high-backed leather chairs. Palm-leaf fabrics frame an opulent onyx and mahogany bar, where patrons can sip classic martinis or unique, new-age cocktails.
Yet when we looked at a photo of the bar, it looked sort of blah. Contemporary but still lacking any personality. But we guess that's an improvement from the pink and green splashed elsewhere throughout the hotel.
The cocktail menu is designed to be whimsical and fun like the apple martini popsicles, a Cereal Milk martini and the mojito jelly shooters. You can also order bottle service and take it outside to the veranda where you get a view of the hotel grounds. There's appetizer menu too with bar classics (but refined) like steak quesadillas, smoked salmon-topped brioche toast, and black pearl caviar.
However, the bar is still in soft opening phase--Donald Trump showed up the first night, LA Eater was there--and there is no mention of the new spot on the hotel's website. But there is a recipe for the hotel's famous Chicken Tortilla Soup. We're giving it a go this weekend, so we'll let you know how it turns out on Monday.
